New Favorite

I recently traveled to California to hang out with family.  It was nice to be away from snow and breakup in Alaska. I got to soak up  some wonderful sun and 90 degree weather which was...AWESOME! I also got to do some shopping and visit DisneyLand and Knott's Berry Farm. Needless to say it was a really fun trip.

Anways....back to the point of my post.  While in California I stumbled upon this shop called MaxStudio at the Citadel Outlets and I just had to share. What a FANTASTIC store!  They have some of the cutest stuff.  Now let me just start by saying that their full price stuff is a bit pricey; however, their sale items are extremely reasonable (much like Anthropologie). And lucky me, they have a website!!

Its been a while... (and Shutter Love)

It has been quite some time since I posted.  I have been enjoying a little time off. Last week was Spring Break for me, which meant a much needed break from homework. So I filled the time by catching up on cleaning and working on a few projects. The week before that I was soaking up some much needed Vitamin D on the beach in Florida:~) But sadly I am back to my daily routine.  The upside is that the days (daylight) are getting longer and the temps are getting warmer.  Spring is in the air in Alaska.

This is a picture of total HAPPINESS! It was 78 degrees and sunshiny, which was a far cry from the -28 degrees that it was back home.

Last Camping Weekend of the Season

I have been incredibly busy these days.  We did manage to squeeze in one more camping trip this season but now i'm in catch up mode.  I have a bunch of projects I intend to finish up sometime soon, but they keep getting pushed aside due to homework (yuck) and housework (double yuck). 

So in the mean time I have added pictures from our camping trip to my gallery.  We camped out in Thompson Pass at Bluberry Lake State Recreation Park which is located about 25 miles outside of Valdez, AK. The drive down was absolutely spectacular. We could not have asked for more beautiful, clear weather.  We got to hike up to the face of Worthington Glacier and eat at my favorite Chinese food restaurant,  Fu Kung.  Unfortunately the actual city of Valdez was in a pretty thick blanket of fog so we did not get to see Valdez Glacier this time down. But all in all it was a great end to camping season in Alaska for us.

Rika's Roadhouse

This past weekend officially brought fall with it. Saturday was cold and rainy, so hubby and I decided to get out of town for the day. We took a drive to Delta Junction, Alaska.  We found the sun for a while and picked up a 4-wheeler part we needed.  We also made a little discovery... Rika's Roadhouse. I'm not completely sure how we had never heard of this place, but it made for a nice little adventure.

 

The flowers were amazing.  I think sweet peas are my new favorites.

Photo Challenge: WOW

Mandey @ Mama and The Dudes has started doing a weekly Photo Challenge.  The subject for week three is something that made you go WOW!

My family and I went Halibut fishing in Seward, AK about 2 years ago.  It was a blast, but what we got to see while on the trip was something I will never, ever forget.........

It was absolutely amazing to see these animals in their natural habitat.  It was the highlight of the trip and most definitely a WOW moment for me:~) Here are a few more from that trip.

Blueberries and 4-Wheelers

The blueberries are out and ready! Yesterday we took the 4-wheelers out for a ride and picked some while we were out there.  We came home with quite a few.  Not as many as some people do, but enough for my purposes.  It was a beautiful day and a fun trip, I love 4-wheeling! Time to make blueberry muffins, blueberry pancakes, and blueberry jelly, mmmmmm.........
