My New Toy

So I recently bought a Silhouette Cutting Machine.  I'm not a scrapbooker but I was completely sold when I looked into all the projects you can do with it.  I was especially intrigued it's ability to cut vinyl. I really love the vinyl wall decor that has become popular lately. I have yet to decide on a home decor project, but I have come up with a few others in the mean time.

The vinyl design on it was left over from one of my last projects.

I added a little Thankgiving to my Fall Wreath.

This was my latest project.  It's by no means perfect, but it was only my first try.  I used a vinyl outline and glass etching cream to create this design.  I can't wait to try again:~)

Adventures in Embroidery: 3 + Felted Knitting

So I'm finally feeling motivated to create again. I have a few projects in the works which I should finish up shortly.  I finished this one up today.  It is a felted clutch with emboridery.  It's been a while since I knitted or felted anything.  I forgot how much I enjoy it.  I used a parts of a pattern from one of my many knitting books. I used 100% pure wool in heather grey. With the holiday season and it's many gathering's upon us I'm sure to get my use out of it:~)

Scavenger Hunt Sunday and a *Note

*Note: If you haven't noticed I have been a huge slacker lately! Between school and winter setting in (we are at 7 hours and 9 minutes of daylight here in FBKS and losing roughly 7 mins a day....ugh) my creative side has been a little quite lately.  But I have started working on projects again and will start working on my Christmas projects as well here shortly. Anyways, with that said on to pictures.......

This week's categories are: Boo!, Black, Texture, Wet, and Language.

1. Boo!

3. Texture - I couldn't decide so I have two for this one. The first one is a sculpture of a polar bear at the UAF Museum that I loved.  The second one is a knitting project I was working on this afternoon.  I loved the way the yarn was wound on the skein.

4. Wet - This one is a throwback. I couldn't find anything new that really piqued my interest in regards to this item. So I reached into my photo stash and found this one of my dog Shelby playing in the water. She is part fish:~)

5. Language - A friend of my inspired this shot. (Psalms 30)

Project Linus

   Meet_linus_big
I have been looking for a way to use my abilities to help.  I stumbled across this organization through one of the various craft blogs I follow. Project Linus has mad it their mission is to provide children who are ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need with love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort through blankets.  I really love this idea.  There is just something about a blanket that provides so much comfort and security.  It is such a simple and inexpensive project that can make such a difference.

I contacted my local chapter, which amazingly enough there is a new one located here in Fairbanks, and found out that they are in need of boys blankets and blankets for older children.  So far I  have made two blankets and will begin two more here shortly. I am completely inlove with the fleece I found.  It is really nice no-pill fleece which is 50% off right now at JoAnne's.

If anyone is looking for a good "giving" project for the holiday season or anytime take a look at Project Linus:~)

Aviation Headset Case

My husband has started taking flying lessons. The fun part is that I get to tag along. So while he is trying to sort out every little detail that one needs to know in order to fly a plane...I get to take pictures:~)

Anyways...he asked me to make him a bag for is headset a little bit ago.  I finally got down to making it over the weekend.  The outside is a fake leather and the inside is lined in fleece. It was quick simple and fits perfectly.
