New Favorite

I recently traveled to California to hang out with family.  It was nice to be away from snow and breakup in Alaska. I got to soak up  some wonderful sun and 90 degree weather which was...AWESOME! I also got to do some shopping and visit DisneyLand and Knott's Berry Farm. Needless to say it was a really fun trip.

Anways....back to the point of my post.  While in California I stumbled upon this shop called MaxStudio at the Citadel Outlets and I just had to share. What a FANTASTIC store!  They have some of the cutest stuff.  Now let me just start by saying that their full price stuff is a bit pricey; however, their sale items are extremely reasonable (much like Anthropologie). And lucky me, they have a website!!

Here is a small sampling of their fantastic dresses...

Spring Time Wreath

Well there might still be snow on the ground here, but the temps are going up which means spring has almost arrived in Alaska.  And since I'm sorta sick of looking at snow I figured it was time to break out the spring decor. It is April, right? I love those rustic, pottery barn-esq, grape vine wreaths, especially the ones decorated with flowers for spring. They just make me happy.

I went to JoAnne's yesterday and they have some really pretty ones on display that really got me inspired.  And since I had a handy new coupon and all of their flowers were on sale, I decided to make one. I ended up spending about $12, which isn't bad considering that the ready made ones they sell are about $30. It only took me about an hour to pull it together.

I decided to tie everything down with craft wire, instead of using glue, so that I can change the flowers if I ever get tired of them.

I think I really like how it turned out:~)

And Another New Dress

When I bought my jeresry knit fabric for my previous dress I could not decide on a color. Since I am gearing up for yet another trip, this time to sunny CA, I figured why not make two new dresses to take along. So I picked up this pattern...

...and enough fabric for both dresses. This particular pattern has a few tricky instructions, but once I figured it out it was quite easy.  I love how it came together and the fit was spot on (for me anyways).
